Tunisian Crochet Necklace & Earrings

Necklace: 21 inches
Earrings: 2 inches
- Omega La Espiga #18 nylon (7 oz/197 yds/200g per ball): 1 ball #67 variegated green
- Size H/8/5mm afghan hook or size needed to obtain gauge
- Size H/8/5mm crochet hook
- Tapestry needle
- 1-inch surgical steel fishhook earrings: 1 pair
Afghan hook: 7 sts = 1 1/4 inches; 3 rows = 1 1/4 inches

Work loops off hook (work lps off hook): Yo, pull through 1 lp on hook (see A on illustration), [yo, pull through 2 lps on hook] across, leaving 1 lp on hook at end of row (see B on illustration).

Knit stitch (knit st): With yarn in back, insert hook from front to back (see illustration below).
Row 1: Leaving 10-inch end, with afghan hook, ch 75, insert hook in 2nd ch from hook, yo, pull lp through, leaving all lps on hook, [insert hook in next ch, yo, pull lp through] across, work lps off hook (see Special Stitches).
Row 2: Sk first vertical bar, knit st (see Special Stitches) across, work lps off hook.
Rows 3-5: Rep row 2.
With size H crochet hook, ch 5, 10 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Leaving 50-inch end, fasten off.
Weave end through top of sc, pull to close, insert needle from top to bottom through center of Button and rem chs. Secure end on back of Button, do not fasten off.
Allow rows of Necklace to roll closed. The rows lie at an angle; Leave angle in place as you sew the 2 edges tog to close, sewing first st on bottom to the 3rd st on top. This will cause a slight spiral.
Sew end closed and continue sewing.
With 10-inch end, make loop about 1 inch long at the 2nd end of Necklace. Sew 1 st in end to secure, and then wrap several times through loop. Fasten off and secure end.
Row 1: Leaving 8-inch end, with afghan hook, ch 7, pull up lp in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, work lps off hook (see Special Stitches).
Rows 2 & 3: Sk first vertical bar, knit st (see Special Stitches) across, work off lps. Leaving 12-inch end, fasten off.
Thread end through eye of fishhook earring. Secure end by working 2 sts to fix in place.
The rows lie at slight angle; leave angle in place as you close the end and sew 2 edges tog to close.
The first st on bottom will be sewn to 2nd st on top; this will cause a slight spiral.
Sew opposite end closed. Fasten off.
