Two Easy Fixes for Common Beading Problems

Kinks in your beading wire?
Sometimes, no matter how carefully you unwrap it, the beading wire gets tangled and some kinks appear. If you have had this problem, you know that if there is a kink in the wire, there is a kink in the bracelet.
Before you start the project, gently pull the wire on opposite sides of the kink to straighten it. You can also hold the wire in both hands, pull it tautly, and rub the wire over the edge of the table. The friction will warm the wire and work out the kink.

Can't get the wire through the bead?
There are many kinds of bead reamers: manual, battery-operated and even fancy electric ones. A bead reamer is a small round file. It is frustrating to find a bead with a clogged hole or a hole too small for the wire, but it happens. Some beads are polished, and some polishing compound might remain inside the bead hole. Some beads are handmade, and the holes are not consistent.
It is easy to fix this. Insert the bead reamer and gently twist back and forth until the hole is opened or is large enough. This will work on beads of all materials, including glass and metal.
