The Multi-Tool

You are the proud owner of a multi-tool! It has four uses. Hold the tool in your hand and close the jaws.

Starting from the tip of the tool:
  1. Round-nose pliers: Round-nose pliers are used for making wire loops. Just wrap the wire around one jaw to make a perfectly round loop. You can make small, medium and large loops, depending on where along the jaw that you wrap.
  2. Flat-nose pliers: Looking at the tool, this flat surface is between the round jaws and the small circular opening. This flat-nose tool can be used to flatten a crimp bead. It can also be used to hold on to the end of a wire.
  3. Crimp tool: With the crimp bead on the wire, place the crimp bead in the round groove and close the jaws. Rotate the bead and close the jaws again. Keep rotating and closing the jaws three or four more times. This crimp tool works differently than the instructions for a specialized crimp tool in your project leaflet.
  4. Cutter: This cutter can cut craft wire or bead-stringing wire.

When you gain experience as a jewelry maker, you might want individual tools for these tasks, but while you are learning, the multi-tool is a good option.
